 MVA magazine Reader Profile 

Kendrick is a 17 year old college student from North London who is into hip hop  music. He engages with music all week long listening to hip hop music from his mp3 to watching the music videos on TV. He likes to dress up like the artists in this genre to show his sense of individuality he also tells his friends about the new albums and music videos they should listen to in Hip Hop music. e is sharp and likes to attend his favorite artists concerts all the time.

Designing the title block

For my music magazine I am planning to use a good title which will be eye catching for my audience seeing as my title will be the first thing my audience will see and look out for. I think that it is a good idea that it is in the same style as my chosen genre to appeal to my audience. I decided that "MVA" due to the results of my survey. from all the different fonts that I have chosen to use for my font is font number 3 as it is brightly done and in bold font which I think will be appealing to my audience. font 1 and 2 were to dark in terms of colour in the font.

The colour of the font has to be brightly styled out on my magazine now that I have chosen my font style after looking at various different fonts and colours from different hip hop magazines. as shown from the example below it shows the masthead of the magazine to have quite a big bold title block with a bright thick red colour. The masthead of the magazine doesn't show which genre the magazine is in but it gives the audience a sense that it has something to do with the hip hop genre due to the fact that it has a hip hop artist on its cover page.

This is another example of a magazine which has a good title block as the colour of it is white and the font is bold it makes it appealing for the audience to look at. The rest of the font on the magazine is all in block capitals to catch the audiences attention. These styles on these magazine pages are giving me good hints of what to do for the cover page of my hip hop magazine. This magazine unlike the other one tells you that it is in the hip hop genre due to the name of the magazine.

Models for my magazine

As my magazine is going to be aimed at a younger audience I intend to use the young people I know who relate to the hip hop gnere in my magazine. These people are mostly going to be my friends who are fashionable and dress in the same style as most of the artists in the Hip Hop genre. As I think the right models for a magazine will attract the right type of audience I will need for my music magazine. The clothing will be very stylish and mostly from expensive brandwear so that it can also attract another type of audience to the magazine.

Costume/Prop Planning

These are 2 videos that have inspired the look of my artists which I think will be really representative to my magazine because I can see the type of clothing that they wear in this genre.

These are a range of clothing for my hip hop magazine which are going to be used on some of my artists. This type of clothing is suitable for my artist to wear on my cover page of my magazine my artists will wear a variety of clothing until the right photos are taken for the cover page. the clothing as seen below is appropriate for my targeted genre as shown in the videos above it matches with what the artists are wearing which I think will catch the audiences attention

The clothes and props shown down here show what the hip hop genre is about showing the type of clothing that they wear and the type of items related to the genre. This is a good use of Mise en scene because the audience will know if I use these props in my magazine it represents the hip hop culture such as the headphones and sunglasses shown above in the picture which are seen a lot on other hip hop magazines. 

I am planning to use hats and glasses for my artist on the double page spread and on the cover page which I think are good props to use to catch the readers attention.

This cap is known as a snapback and is important accessory in the hip hop genre because artists wear this to show individuality. The red and blue on the cap really show good definition in hoow artists like to represent themselves. these are worn a lot to show represetation on how artists represent themselves to the media.

  This here is my final draft of my school magazine showing different conventions of style and charisma of how a student is ready to learn in school.

this is going to be my front cover of my magazine as you can see it shows a main image of a happy student as shown by the smile on his face. my ideas for the magazine are very wide in terms of variety because it has the school motto on it at the bottom left hand of the cover. With 4 pictures of different students around the school.

 

the contents page shows detail of different articles on different pages with some images of different school work. Personally I think the disadvantage of my contents page is that it does not have enough detail presented in it I think that I could have added more photos on the contents page to make it more presentable.

Magazine Photo Analysis

 

the lighting in this photo is good because it is outdoor so it is natural light meaning that it can bring out key detail in presenting on my magazine as this photo will also be used on the contents page of the magazine. Although if I could improve I would try to get a better angle that shows good facial expressions.

 

 

This photo will be used on the contents page to show a students artwork and the depth students go too to make good presentable work for the school. the advantage of this photo is that as it will be on the contents page it will give a good visual of what the students are made of around the school.

 

 

This photo will be used on the cover page of the magazine showing a sixth form student happy to be at school. this is a good photo because of the brightness in the background which brings out the colour of his suit.

 

this photo shows a student hard at work on the computer with him smiling to show the happiness he has at school. the disadvantage to this photo is that there is too much lighting which isn't always good when trying to bring out detail. Because the high key lighting overlaps everything in the photo.

 

this photo shows the musical capabilities of the student here at the school and would be useful on my cover page because it can give out different impressions of the school.
